‼️STOP PLAYING WITH THE AI‼️ ChatGPT IS NOT A LAWYER.

The agents who use it and chats that claim they no longer need lawyers and give advice (even if they have their respective disclaimers) are NOT lawyers.

In recent weeks, I've grown tired of reading not only posts on social media but also hearing anecdotes, reading journalistic articles, reading chats, and hearing gossip about accountants, administrators, marketing specialists, etc., claiming to have a legal answer to a problem because ChatGPT told them so or answered that way. They've even sent me screenshots of the query stating that it was so because an AI had said it…

Well, let me tell you that this is a very bad idea in the vast majority of cases, because while it is true that there are very well-made and "fed" AI agents, they are not the majority by any means. That is, while it is true that there are some well-made ones by lawyers and engineers with an ethical vision of the issue, most, including the most famous ones, still "hallucinate" and invent answers, invent legal articles, and even laws with such fervor that anyone who doesn't know about the subject would believe it and take it as true. There are chats and internet pages that present themselves as "virtual lawyers" both in Mexico and worldwide, but in my opinion, they have serious ethical and possibly legal problems by offering a service that is neither clear nor precise and that, therefore, could be misleading and abusive (no matter how many disclaimers they include, especially for the most vulnerable population). In my opinion, it continues to be a very bad idea to take any AI as a source of legal consultation, (especially when it comes to consulting a law, article, or criterion; for that, we still need to go to the original source).

To this day, many people still believe that what ChatGPT answers is one hundred percent accurate, and it is NOT. Believing this not only can but has already caused and will continue to cause many legal problems for individuals and companies (it has caused many serious problems even for lawyers in many parts of the world). So, if you decide to continue using this type of AI, that's excellent, in fact, we should promote it, but please do so with caution, and if it gives you a result like a law with an article and an analysis of it, at least check that the law exists, that the article exists, and that they are not inventing it just to give you an answer. In legal matters, for the moment, it is better to continue trusting your trusted lawyer.

Beware, those who follow me will know that I am passionate about the subject, and I believe that AI is a fabulous tool, but just like a knife, it can be used for good or for bad; much will depend on who uses it. So, my reflection on May 10th is: continue using AI because we are undoubtedly facing a generational change, but please use it with your own intelligence.
